There was some time when we thought that the Covid-19 has temporary past in China. And we will be back to normal in a short time. However, things get the opposite of what we want. 

Due to the lack of water in the past year, the hydropower in China has significantly decreased. And the summer comes lot sooner than ever this year, resulting now we are lack of electricity now. And this situation was not seen in the past decades in China.

So now, lack of ICs, rising prices of materials, and lack of electricity. Most of the manufacturers in Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang province now have to closed 2-3 days a week because of no electricity.  In a result, the lead time of each order will get delayed AGAIN.

That is all?  

The Covid-19 now is back to China. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, these three cities are under attacked by the new Covid-19 virus. Some districts are quarantined and schools, shops, shopping malls, and also factories are closed.  2021 the 26th Guangzhou international lighting exhibition has announced a postpone to unknown time. The 2021 lighting industry surely will get really bad impacts. and we have to hold on by our own efforts, wishing all bad things past soon.

Beginning in the January 2021, the LED lighting raw materials was getting start to rise. Materials like aluminum, copper, carton paper, packing paper, PC, ABS, silicon gels, ... almost every kind of materials to making a lamp are rising the prices. 

We could see many LED manufacturers began to rise the LED lighting product prices at the past several month. Base on the historical experiences, the raw materials will fall after the Chinese New Year. However, the 2021 is so special. we could see from the above diagram that aluminum and copper keep rising prices in the past month, even the past half year, and sees not stopping.

Many more LED manufacturers cannot stand for that, and more announced rise in prices also.  Would that be the only problem for the lighting business in 2021?  NO WAY！

You might heard of the news that Smart phone CPU and ICs are in short supply at the beginning of 2021. But you probably not knowing that not only the Smart phone ICs, but all ICs for all industries are in short supply, and many are out of sock.

If you are in the LED Driver or Power Supply related business, you might found out that it's so hard to get even one plate of ICs. We are back to the primitive society that people are not trading ICs in money, but in another ICs. In a result, we are now really out of supply of LED drivers, or power supplies, or controllers.

All materials are rising prices, so suppliers are not willing to have more stocks. So each materials need longer delivery time.

And ICs are out of stock, in a result of a really late or even endless waiting time for a LED driver.

Rising labor cost, and lack of labor also be a headache for LED lighting manufactures.

So, you might expect to have a much longer delivery time for all LED lighting products in the next one year or so.

Please be patient and understanding the awkward situation of all LED manufacturers, and hope everything will be recovered and be nice again! Keep Fighting!
